A Real‑Life Story: When Low Water Pressure Revealed a Bigger Problem
We recently got a call from a homeowner who was frustrated with terrible water pressure. At first, they assumed it was just a small plumbing issue. But once we arrived and started diagnosing, it became clear the problem ran much deeper—right down to the well itself.
Their pump had been pulling up sand, which was clogging the lines and choking the water flow. After a closer look, we discovered the root cause: a previous water leak had gone unnoticed. That leak caused the pump to cycle nonstop, eventually leading to a partially collapsed well and a damaged pump.
To get everything back to normal, we replaced the pump and the pipe, then set the new pump higher in the well to prevent sand from being sucked up again. The difference in water pressure afterward was night and day.
This is a perfect example of why catching issues early matters. Many problems actually start above the well—frozen lines, broken pipes, a waterlogged pressure tank, or a faulty pressure switch. These small issues can snowball into major, expensive repairs if they’re ignored.
